RPG Class Survey Poll

The RPG Class Survey Poll

As most of you know I am making a game called Castle Oblivion VX. (Using the RPG Maker VX game engine.) However, I need you to decide which classes I should include in this game. If you could spare a moment to vote on the poll below it will help improve the game dramatically and make it more fun for you to play once it is released.

Many thanks in advance. If you would like to discuss this further you may leave a comment below. =)

Which RPG Classes do you prefer? Select your top 5!

May Updates!

Apologises…

I would like to apologise for the lack of updates on the blog. Unfortunately I have been extremely busy with my studies. I’m sure you’ve experienced the same condition some point in your life when you just have too much work (or studies) and no free time at all. A solution I found would be to create a time management chart where you list out the next few weeks and write down what work you are going to do and when. It’s a really useful method to get organised.

I do plan to give the blog some new updates soon. The blog will be focusing on RPG Maker VX for the rest of the year. If I get requests by enough users I may decide to add some other content to the blog too.

RPG Maker VX Tutorials, Tips and Ideas

The good news for you guys is that I plan to add the following blog posts over the next few weeks of July.

  • A town mapping tutorial
  • A cave mapping tutorial
  • A indoor house mapping tutorial
  • The basics of the text box events in RPG Maker VX
  • Some information on faceset resources
  • Every piece of content from my pervious blog

Hooray! I believe the mapping tutorials will turn out to be really helpful. They will all be screenshot and text based tutorials and if I succeed you should find them really useful.

RPG Maker Projects

I also have three different RPG Maker projects which I have worked on in secret of the last few months. I will be releasing publically information about the first project soon. I believe it has a huge chance of succeeding and failing. This project isn’t for everyone but if it succeeds many people will love it. I have given it some of the elements and themes which are most famous for being used in the Kingdom Hearts series.

My main focus with this project is to create a game which will grab attention and curiosity to the player that they want to keep finding out what happens next. I will be using the side view battle system and I believe if everything else fails the battles and bosses will be a blast to play through.

I always think it is a good idea to have a main focus when creating a project. It also helps to analyse other projects before creating your own. The difference between a game that analyses the concept and themes for creating a successful RPG game and the ones that don’t are amazing.

The demo version of this project will be an open file so you all can see what works I have done and use that to help practice for your games.

I am afraid I have currently stopped working on the other two projects for now as I am too busy. I believe concentrating on one project at a time is always the best thing anyway, otherwise the ideas can sometimes get a little muddily.

All three of my game projects are different but will take place in the same universe having a few connections. If this project becomes successful their will eventually be a sequel. I can’t take full credit for this project though. More will be explained soon.

Final Notes

The forum is planning to go live in July unless there are further delays. With the forum you will be able to have your own thread, blogs, image hosting and download page with your own information about your game projects.

On top, members that post regularly will have the chance of their projects being advertised here!

The wiki will end up going live, but it may not be for a few more months.

Thank you for reading this, good luck with your projects and hope to keep seeing you around.

RPG Game Makers – Name Generators

May 18th, 2009 boos405 No comments

Need good names for your video game characters?

No matter what game engine you use whether it’ll be RPG Maker VX or Game Maker, you’ll eventually want to create a video game character that sounds good. It is usually a good idea to use generators for your game characters unless you are going with the name meaning approach. I know a lot of people get stuck at this point, especially when creating an RPG. Therefore it’s useful to use random generators to get inspiration and ideas. Below are three of the top generators I recommend to beginners with a little information on what each one does. Click the links to go to them.
